Welcome to Sturgeon Comp's Coding Club!
Teacher Sponsors - K. Hubick and V. Joo
Interested in computer programming? Ever wonder how to create animations and games? Whether you've never written a single line of code or have a tremendous amount of experience creating computer programs, are an expert in robotics or a genius in creating awesome web pages, we will provide a relaxing and supportive environment to discover and explore the fantastic world of coding.
The Coding Club meets every Tuesday at lunch in Mr. Hubick's room (modular #2) starting on February 9th. Bring your lunch and your own device (or borrow one of our laptops). We're here to help you as you pursue coding at your own pace. Work independently or in small groups, the choice is yours and everyone is welcome! Click on the calendar to see when the next Coding Club is scheduled.
If one lunch hour a week is not enough, you can also join us Thursday's at lunch in Mr. Hubick's room for the S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Club. One of the focusses in S.T.E.M. will be robotics and of course coding!
Click on the calendar to see when the next Coding Club and S.T.E.M. Club are scheduled.
Note: Periodically, some Coding and S.T.E.M. Club meetings will be cancelled due to Mr. Hubick's supervision responsibilities.

Where Do I Begin And Where Can I Go?
Using the accessible Object-Oriented approach to coding known as "block space" coding, you will be introduced to the basics of creating a computer program by dragging and dropping prewritten "blocks" of code that will "click" or "snap" into place. Once you've mastered the basics, you will be able to take the concepts and problem solving skills that you've learned and:
- Move on to higher level languages (such as Python, Java and variants of C),
- Design webpages using HTML5 and CSS
- Create Apps for Apple and Google devices, or
- Build and program your own robots.
The choice is yours! When you are ready, simply navigate to the next pages to begin.
